Fun fact about me: I tend to get amazing ideas and jump in head first… then figure out all the details later. That’s kind of how Sip Dash Savor started. I got it in my head what I wanted, bought a domain and created tons of social media accounts… and then pretty much watched them all sit stagnant for a year while I tried to figure out how to make them come together and work. Do you feel me here? Am I completely alone in doing things this way? Like, I knew what I wanted, but I was both clueless and scared to death to take the next steps in making my dreams into a living, breathing reality.
Here’s another fun fact about me: I like to dissect everything, get down to the nitty-gritty, and put it all together again. I’m pretty sure it’s just the way I’m wired, and I’m totally cool with it. So, knowing this about myself, I knew that I didn’t want to pay someone to create this beautiful webpage for me and leave me not knowing or understanding what to do with it from there. As far as I’m concerned, web pages are kind of a living, breathing creature-type-thing. It needs to be able to evolve, and I need to know how to make it evolve, ya know? Also… stuff breaks. Like, it’s just a part of life. I need to know how to fix it myself, without having to rely upon the paid services of others (or free but kinda shady advice of the internet…) so that I can get things back up and running again.
Enter The Sassy Suite & Blogging Boot Camp!
So, about a year ago, a very dear friend of mine introduced me to The Sassy Suite. This group of powerful & knowledgeable women-helping-women is filled with so much camaraderie and skills that are NEEDED for entrepreneurs and people in direct sales. I joined the free Facebook group and quickly learned that there was a TON more I could be learning through the Sassy Suite courses and the paid group Suite SassyPants. I broke out my credit card and paid for both my first course and monthly membership in what I now lovingly refer to as “The Pants.” (P.S. there will be a later article reviewing both that first course and what I’ve experienced in The Pants, but one thing at a time here, y’all…). I became addicted to the knowledge I was soaking up. I started putting it into play and knew I had to have more.
This where Blogging Boot Camp comes in…
The more I learned, the more I realized that in order for my little brain-child of Sip Dash Savor to work, I desperately needed a living, breathing blog. Now, remember, I’d already purchased both a domain and a WordPress site. I’d started making all sorts of social media channels work for me. I had NO CLUE what the heck to do with either that domain or WordPress site. I’d gone into them and attempted to make them work for me, but I was making a royal mess of things. And then the chatter around The Pants about Blogging Boot Camp started, and my interest was piqued. People that I’d grown to know and trust told their success stories about what they’d experienced through BBC. I knew I had to do this.
And then it was announced. And I saw the price. And I about passed out.
Blogging Boot Camp is not cheap, y’all. It’s just not. That said, I still knew in my heart that I needed this course to achieve the kind of success I knew Sip Dash Savor had the potential of gaining, and I started saving my nickels and dimes. I missed the deadline for signing up for that BBC, but since I knew that I desperately wanted this, that I would continue to save for the next time it was offered. That happened a few months later.
First one outta the gate!
The day came that the announcement for the next round of Blogging Boot Camp was open. I will never forget… I was literally hanging out in the bed of my truck with my little dog Geordi, enjoying some afternoon sun, and the announcement pinged on my phone. I whipped out my debit card, filled out all the info needed, took a deep breath, and hit SEND. It all happened in about 60 seconds. I later found out that I was officially the very first boot camper for that round. I was set!
Blogging Boot Camp came. Y’all. It is WORK. Like, expect about 10-15 hours of work a week, and it takes eight weeks to complete this course. Yes. It is work.
Sip Dash Savor is a reality now. I know it sounds trite, but my life has changed so much since participating in Blogging Boot Camp. I now not only have vision, but I now also have the direction and know-how to turn that vision into reality every day. I attract people to my little blog-that-could daily… and am making some amazing friendships all the time! Also, that amount of money that I spent for Blogging Boot Camp? The amount that I almost passed out over? I’ve learned to monetize my blog so that it pays me to write.
